Don Ray Vinson. Class of 1954, passed away on March 31, 2008 in Tyler, TX. Services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Crims Chapel, with burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

OLEN POOLE
Olen Poole, Class of 1940 and an explosion survivor, passed away on March 20, 2008 in Tyler, TX. Services will be Monday, March 24 at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens.

J. B. HARRIS
J. B. Harris, Class of 1950, passed away on March 17, 2008 in Overton, TX. Services are Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 

CONRAD "CONNIE" MAGOUIRK TO BE INDUCTED INTO
TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME

  Connie Magouirk, Class of 1949, is being honored on May 3, 2008 by his induction into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. A four sport athlete and one of the finest to wear the Blue and Gold, he led the Wildcats to the state semi-finals in 1948. Connie was selected to the All-State First Team, a Sporting News High School All-American, and played in the Coaches Association All-Star game. He continued his football career at Texas A&M, where he was a three year letterman. He played two years for the Eglin Air Force Base team, being selected to the All-Air Force team. He resides in Baytown, TX where he is the Amegy Bank of Texas East Region President.

Buford Leon Jones, Class of 1947, passed away on March 13, 2008 in Tyler, TX. Services are Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Noonday Baptist Church.

 GAIL PEACOCK
Gail Peacock, Class of 1961, passed away on February 21, 2008 in Houston, TX.

GLYNON WILLIAMSON
Glynon Williamson, Basketball Coach, passed away February 9, 2008, in Nacogdoches, TX. Services will be February 13, 2008, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches, TX.

THOMAS RAY NELSON
Thomas Ray Nelson, Class of 1948, passed away on February 7, 2008. After cremation, memorial services will be held at a later date. His mother, Johnnie Nelson was a teacher who was killed in the explosion.

 

RALPH SNYDER
Ralph Snyder, Class of 1945, passed away December 14, 2007. He was buried in Columbia, South America.

"LIVING LESSONS FROM THE NEW LONDON EXPLOSION"
The Museum has been able to get the book "Living Lessons from the New London Explosion" reprinted. The book was the first written about the explosion. It was authored by Rev. R. L. Jackson, pastor of the New London Methodist Church. The book is on sale at the Museum for $12.50 plus tax or by mail for $15.00.
